When Mayor Taylor ran her campaign, she promised to fight to bring a professional city manager to Waukegan and institute a manager-council form of government. This form of government will bring to Waukegan a professionally trained city manager with higher education training and years of experience running cities.
Hiring a manager will allow Waukegan to operate more efficiently and save approximately 10% of our current budget each year, which means our hometown would have an extra $20 million to use for vital capital improvement projects. It is virtually unprecedented for a city the size of Waukegan not to have a manager. In fact, nearly all neighboring villages and cities in Lake County have a professional manager.
Residents are asking for this change, but they first must vote to make it happen. Below are the petition and instructions on how you can help get this crucial change in Waukegan’s form of government on the ballot this spring.
